Something that has been depressing me a little lately, I love computers, older ones especially, (though if anyone offered me a G5 I wouldn't say no ;) ) and I want to continue collecting them, but when i'm honest with myself, I don't use them. I use them for a bit, then it slows down into nothing.
A friend thought that the best idea would be to buy them, repair/upgrade them, play with them, then when I get bored, sell them on. But where he can do that, I can't. Of all my older macs:
Plus SE (20Mb/800k but still have other 800k drive) Colour Classic LC 475 Performa 630CD Quadra 840av
I don't want to part with any of them yet they sit doing nothing. I think its the abundance of more modern technology that killed it, I have an iMac 1Ghz and iBook 1Ghz that I use for most daily things and a linux machine that i use for all my servery things.
I have the Plus set up because I try to use it for typing up my assignments on, because its great for that, but last time I tried, I had to pull the file across 4 machines, 3 file formats and two storage medium in order to print it! And of course the moment I take it into college on the iBook, it never sees the Plus again since its too much hassle to transfer!
What do you lot use your older machines for? Any ideas what I could do to get myself into it again? I feel that if I have to force myself back into it then it's probably not worth it, but I know I enjoy them, and if I didn't force myself to do anything then I would never do anything since I am rather lazy even when it comes to things I like! ;)
Please help me out, I have very few passions, this is one of them and its slipping away!
