I don't think there'll be any iPod announcements - Apple seem in recent months/years to have kept them separate from Mac announcements. And, strictly, this is 'Mac'Expo.

In fact, I don't think that there'll be any terribly exciting new stuff. I think they would dearly love to have a G5 Powerbook to announce, but I'll be astonished if that's ready yet. I don't think that even the G4 Dual-core technology is available yet in working computers, so that won't be available either (although they could announce it, I suppose). The iMac was a summer announcement. They could beef up the iBooks, but that would push them too close to the Powerbooks, so they're constrained there. And while they would love to announce the 3 GHz Powermacs, the CPUs simply aren't available yet.

In short, I think this January will be a holding operation. I expect the following:- a) changes in detail but not essence to the PowerMac lineup - I suppose a quad-CPU model isn't out of the question; b) possibly an announcement about a mid-term target for Powerbooks, but no actual machines yet; c) changes to pricing of the iBooks - they might reduce the bottom-end machines, perhaps bring in a stripped-down 14" (no Superdrive, no built-in Airport); d) a speed-bump to the iMac range; and e) possibly the end of the eMac range. Oh, and f) lots of esoteric server announcements. And g) lots of Tigger stuff but again no actual operating system yet - that's promised for April, I believe.

Hi everyone,

Traffic was slow lately and I am starting to get excited (first time I can
say that about visiting the States!) as I will be in California the week
that the upcoming MacExpo is going on...If anything great is introduced then
I may be coming back with a new toy...what are the thoughts on the list as
to the likelihood of a new flash iPod / headless iMac / iPhone / other?
