For a while I had an Epson 680 inkjet (not Postscript) attached to the network via an HP JetDirect 170x box. I used the "IP Printing" option in OSX's Print Centre/Printer Setup to access it from the Macs. In the end though I stopped using it, partly because the connection was unreliable but mainly because with IP printing the printer driver had much less features - it seemed to be a generic Epson one that didn't allow me to use many of the printer's options, such as the higher printer resolutions. I just put this down to the limitations of this type of printing (CUPS?). I'd be happy to be told otherwise and that it is possible to drive a printer fully using this kind of interface.
