Talking of printers, my G5 iMac has ceased being able to share the printer attached to my G3 iMac. They were communicating perfectly one day, then the next day not speaking. Sharing is on at both ends. Does anyone have any suggestions for a diagnosis, please?

I assume this a USB connection to the G3 and an Ethernet connection to the G3 from the G5. Assuming the G5 and G3 can speak to each other in other ways, both ways, I would suggest, if nothing else has changed, check to see if the printer is hung up after printing something from either of the computers. I find this sometimes happens, where the driver remains active, thinking it is still printing when it aint. If you summon the driver window and see if it is still in printing mode. If so, click on the job to highlight it and then click on hold and then on resume and it should clear.

If the computers are not speaking at all then I think that may relate to a recent update which we fell foul of. Our G4 talked OK to the G3 until the G4 was updated and suddenly it was one way traffic, the G3 can see the G4 but not the other way round. I plan to have a fiddle around with the location set ups to see if I can resume contact. I find switching between locations can be a bit wobbly sometimes and I can clear Ethernet obstructions sometimes by toggling between Auto and the original setting. Don't ask me why - voodoo.
