Thanks for the link Mark. The drive is a Seagate (at least when I zoom in on
the picture from the US Macworld photos). Maybe worth looking on the Seagate
page for info on the drive and see if it has a proprietary connector...

The picture resolution is not good enough to see what the model is, just
that it was a 40 GB model Seagate. The daughterboard connection goes
straight to the drive and does not use a cable. Nor does the Optical drive
apparently.
