Your email made me go and look at what my PowerMail preference is - it's
still set to the default of ISO-8859-15, however underneath it says:

"(Whenever possible, PowerMail will use US-ASCII or ISO-8859-1 instead of
the selected character set)"

So I guess I've been lucky so far not to write anything to this list that
results in the client having to use anything but US-ASCII.
