OK, I'm probably way behind here, but you can do route planning and stuff now in the UK:
<http://maps.google.co.uk/> Since I'm travelling from Bridgend, South Wales to Boroughbridge near York next week I decided to test it out and I'm pretty impressed. Not only did it calculate the route faster than the Route 66 software on my iBook, it made a better attempt at getting me from my house to the motorway (Route 66 makes a right hash of that). Even better....enter something like "travelinns near york" and it shows them all, before letting you plot a route to them from elsewhere.
