Apple hardware seems to be far more sensitive to memory than anything
else. I bought a 512Mb stick of memory for my Mac Mini, and it just
beeped three times on boot. The same memory passed every memory test I
ran on a PC, and is still working quite happily in a PC. That memory
had the same specification as given by Apple, but just didn't work. I
just ordered from Crucial, and it worked straight away.

As for PC133 memory, memory from Kingston and Crucial have worked just
fine in my iBook. Just recently I bought some "Samsung" memory
taken from a Toshiba I think, and that just worked fine too.

I think because it's almost a matter of luck if the memory will work on
not in an Apple, people say it doesn't, just to avoid the hassle. If
the memory is cheap enough, take a gamble, and just resell it if it
doesn't work. If it's near Crucial/Kingston prices, you're best
sticking with them.
