I'm sure you would be already aware of this from Low End Mac, but you
can always try the Pickle's Low End Mac Faq (macfaq.org) for a splendid
exposé of matters about 68K Macs. From there you should be able to get
to Gamba's site (I think shown elsewhere on this e-mail thread) which
explains how to "slim down" 7.5 to similar proportions to System 7.1
for the more technologically challenged Mac.
Apologies if this ancient news to you, but I got a sudden surge of
nostalgia for the time I took my venerable LCIII onto the web. Ooh and
the Classic web surfing on System 6 (Mac futility if ever there was
such an activity!)

Incidentally, the first thing to do with ancient Ethernet cards is to
make sure they're connected first to a 10Mb hub, not a variable speed
switch.
