I have 640 Mb in my 12"Powerbook - one of the original 867MHz ones. The memory is made up of 128 Mbyte built in, and 512Mbyte extra. I've decided that the time has come to upgrade this and replace the 512 Mbyte unit with 1 Gb one. To my surprise, however, on running through the 'Configurator' wizard, Crucial doesn't list anything better than 512 Mbyte in the relevant spec: DDR PC2100 200 pin SODIMM. Doing a search on their site reveals that they do have a 1Gb DDR PC2100 SODIMM, but it's quite expensive: about £125 inc. VAT. They also have other 1Gb modules that are a bit cheaper, eg DDR PC2700 SODIMMs or even DDR PC3200 units.

Can anyone suggest another source for a 1Gb SODIMM for an original 12" Powerbook? Or indeed, reassure me that fitting one of the faster units (ie the
PC2700 or PC3200) will be OK?

And finally is there any way of swapping the 128 'internal' memory with something bigger?
