When I was in the States last week for a scientific conference I was amazed at the continuous increase of Apple users in my traditionally non Mac field...
Previously, there were only a few people, mostly from NASA, that were using Macs but now in general I notice more and more PB's and of those with laptops in the sessions I visited, a third were using Ti or Alu PowerBooks, the favourite being the 12" ALBook for all but 5 users who had 15" models and only 1 TiBook in the group... The portable size, lack of viruses and *nix underpinnings are really starting to change things (or everyone wants to synch their iPods more elegantly...) Anyone else seeing large increases or decreases in Mac use...I would have thought that the traditional Mac pro (design) sector is slowly eroding due to the (personal opinion) seeming focus on all things Podish....The recent speed bumps and dual core processors included? On a completely unrelated note: anyone else notice that the Nano doesn't have a very good alarm clock noise level? (compared to my 40 GB 3rd Gen Pod at least)...The noise that the alarm makes is not going to wake even the jumpiest of sleepers let alone the sleeping dead like myself...(lack of speaker space? Ideas?)
