Well, the Grand Opening of the Meadowhall Applestore was fun, though perhaps not that grand. I arrived at about 8:30 and found maybe 150 people or so people in a queue just outside the shop. There were some Apple employees acting as cheerleaders, and we had Mexican Waves and sundry other party games for a while. At about 8:50 all the store employees (several dozen of them) came out and ran down the length of the queue, high-fiving everyone. And pretty much immediately after that they started letting people in, a few minutes before 9 o'clock. By that time I think there were probably another 100 to 150 people behind me in the queue.

Once inside the store it was extremely busy & crowded for the first 45 minutes or so, but after that it did begin to thin out a bit. It was a typical small Applestore - tables & shelves round the walls, a couple of big tables in the middle, all with kit laid out and working. Lots of hands on, lots of interaction with the staff. It was good.

What was funniest about the opening & pre-openeing, of course, was all the other shoppers walking past and clearly wondering what on earth all the noise & excitement was about...

Oh, and they gave me a t-shirt, which on the front has an Apple sign and reads 'Meadowhall', and 'designed by Apple in California' on the back.
