Hi Stuart, Some thoughts off the cuff...
Have you tried opening iTunes and then going to prefs and clicking on the iPod tab and then inserting the Shuffle? (not sure what version differences there may be)...it may be that you just have the tick box unchecked for 'open iTunes when this iPod is connected'... Try using another computer (even <shudders> a wintel machine) so that you can link the music library from it and then come back to link to the Mac...(once you say do not link this Pod to a computer it tends to be rather 'rude' and not want to show up at all thereafter, IMO) Or Have you tried renaming the shuffle? You should have better luck with the first suggestions but...
