Honestly, your comments were the inflametory ones. My comments were based
largely of fact and wholely on opinion. Whether RMS is a zealot or not was
nothing to do with the original posters faux pas.

Stallman is a hero to some and a demon to others. My personal opinion is
irrelevant. It seems you like him. I originally assumed you were sticking up
for the poster I replied to... didn't realise you were upset about RMS. (for
anyone who isn't following this... RMS is the usual geek rendering of
Richard Stallman's name - nothing to do with the original poster who
unfortunately seems to have similar initials..)

MacOS X is based on OPENSTEP. OPENSTEP used the Mach kernel, as does OS X up
to a point. The basis of which has less (if anything) to do with FSF, more
to do with Carnegie Mellon University. I use OPENSTEP on an almost daily
basis. Please do not preach to me. OPENSTEP owes less to GNU, and more to
BSD. Very little of OPENSTEP is GNU. MacOS X is basically Aqua grafted on to
OPENSTEP. Even the spinning pizza of death wait cursor is directly taken
verbatim from OPENSTEP.

MacOS X's kernel is more of a hybrid. Mostly Mach but with a lot of BSD. BSD
(in its many flavours) is NOT a GNU OS. It doesn't even use the GPL.
Although I see FSF would like BSD to be called GNU/BSD because it uses some
userland components from the GNU project.

NP. If you want to take this off list, fine by me. However, since you have
yet to back up any claims I assume you want this to drop - and so dropped it
is ;-)
