*** Hi,
I have been a PDA junkie for 5 years and switched to a Filofax since 5
months. Both Palm and PocketPC are not up to the task they have set to
do. Palm has been pushing their sales by changing their Universal
Connector each time a new model comes out while the PocketPC has the
perfect hardware and the wrong OS. Both are too expensive for what they
are.
Nevertheless, PocketPC's hardware and its multi-tasking and much better
network stack (while not perfect) can be enough to attract non-Windows
users. The problem is the Windows only compatibility. Missing Sync (&
Pocket Mac) try to be the interface between the PocketPC and the Mac,
and like any intermediary have a very difficult task of making things
work between things that were never meant to work together.
I have tested both and kept the Missing Sync. Pocket Mac works like the
editor’s site looks like: Messy. It is unstable, slow and never allows
having twice the same result. It works like a beta shareware: The envy
is there but not the expertise.
Missing Sync feels finished and gets the task done as best as the
situation allows it to. It has iTunes and iPhoto integration, comes
with a photo viewer, mounts the PocketPC as a disk on a Mac, but... the
syncs are slow and there is no way of controlling which way to
synchronize (you know like Mac to PDA or PDA to Mac, etc.).
Buying VirtualPC only to sync with a PocketPC. With all due respect,
but that is foolish. It is not worth it. I already have difficulties
not trying to talk you over into buying a nice Filofax instead of a
PDA...
Up to you to decide, but forget Virtual PC. It is not worth it.
Zoran.

Hi Everyone,
I am looking to get a PocketPC for work and to use Tom Tom Navigation
software with but still want to only synch and install software from my
PowerBook at home...does anyone have any recommendations on this?
I have thought of using Virtual PC but a lot of cash just for that
ability
and it would be too slow I think?
I have also heard of Pocket Mac and Missing Synch but have no
experience
with them....
Anyone help?
Thanks in advance,
Richard
