IIRC, someone here was looking for a iChat compatible Webcam but did not want to get an iBling.
This site may interest you (especially as its in German!) but the camera is only Euro 39.95 including VAT. The camera can produce 800 x 600 and has a LED for operation status and a 'snapshot' feature which takes jpg's. It can be 'mounted' on flatscreens, PB and iBooks as well as just on the desk.
