Yep, you can leave the line of text out, and it should pick up the 
icon by default as long as it is named favicon.ico. I just thought it 
might wake up the browser if it was missing it somehow. The line also 
lets you have a different icon on each page if you want. You just change 
the name for the different pages and you get a new icon.
