Thanks to everyone who helped out with my question about software that would
check for broken external links on a web site.

I tried out 3 that would work with my stand-alone Jaguar (not a server).

The suggestion to try URL Manager Pro <http://www.url-manager.com/> was very
creative. This program focuses on managing bookmarks (and does a great job
of it) but you can also download the links from a site and the program will
validate them.

BLT (the Braxton Link Tester) <http://www.braxtech.com/blt/> is a free
program that focuses on checking a web site's internal and external links.
It's a good program and there are quite a few adjustments you can make to do
fancy stuff from the command line.

LinkChecker <http://www.dotsw.com/linkchecker.html> costs $20, and is the
one I've ended up sticking with. It allows you to adjust a wide variety of
settings using the menu (rather than using command line language), to test
multiple sites, to set tests to use up to 25 connections at once, to fix
broken links from within the program, etc.

I used email to ask questions and request tech support for all 3, and each
of them responded within 24 hours with clear, helpful messages.

It was LinkChecker, however, that amazed me with the responsiveness to my
emails. I received a response within a couple of hours to my first message
*with an apology for the delay*! Because of the ways my web site is set up
(to provide access to those with disabilities who use various forms of
assistive technology), it presents a challenge to comprehensive link
checking. He not only ran the program on the site to see the kinds of
challenges I was encountering, but actually tinkered with the program and
sent me an adjusted version that would work well with my site. It's rare
that I've ever encountered this level of responsiveness when asking for help
from consumer and tech support.

Thanks again for your help in locating these programs.
