The second bit is now included.Hello,
I submit this to Mac Webmasters since I expect them to know more cross-platform goodies than do NT administrators.
I run Mac OS X.2.8 behind multiple stages of firewalls in a government facility. I need to access my company website which is password protected, but not encrypted. I am told it is simple, NT challenge and respond.
Using IE on the Mac OS, this error came up after valid info is entered in the login box.
The attempt to load 'Accessing URL: blah-blah/' failed.
Opera says "The server requested a login authentication method that is not supported."
On other browsers(Netscape, Mozilla, OmniWeb on the Mac, the login box never arrives. I get this
HTTP 401.2 - Unauthorized: Logon failed due to server configuration Internet Information Services
Technical Information (for support personnel)
Background:
This is usually caused by a server-side script not sending the proper
WWW-Authenticate header field. Using Active Server Pages scripting this is
done by using the AddHeader method of the Response object to request that
the client use a certain authentication method to access the resource.
If I run Virtual PC, then use IE in VPC, I can access the site.
