I'm questioning the decision ;) (but I'm very lazy for participating IRC...)
Maybe there are some people want to use X11 version in Panther. This is
your case. Personally I miss such kind of users. This motivates myself
in Panther build.
Aqua version will not be possible due to many technical reasons, but for X11,
I think there are not so many obstacles (but there are!).
AFAIK, in terms of gcc-3.3 regression, some GNU/Linux distro and OpenBSD
people want to build with gcc-3.3. We can cooperate. Of course, there
maybe other MacOSX Panther issues (and there are!).

Unfortunately, I found some issues that prevents Panther build.
#i74325# and #i72922#. Hope you and/or others are interested in it
and solve ASAP. If solved, I'll immediately switch to Panther and
provide builds as usual.

This is very unfortunate. I'm very sad.
