A couple of tips:
You can easily force the font conversion to run again. You just
need to delete an empty file in the fonts directory. 1 within the
application, the other in the user's ooo profile.
/Applications/OpenOffice.org\ 2.2.app/Contents/MacOS/share/fonts/
truetype/system_fondu_done
/Users/shaunmcdonald/Library/Application Support/OpenOffice.org 2.2/

Great, I will put that tip in the post.
Pictures are always nice in instructions that you are giving. It
helps to keep the reader's attention for a lot longer. For example
the ones at
http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/faq/installing/X11.html although
not perfect, show the user exactly
I was thinking about this, but I fear that the post will be too
long. I think I will add screenshots at least for the datasource
browsing and the database creation wizard.
