i've quickly read this topic, but if you have some problems to  
compile, i'm system administrator of 4 emacs G4, one G4 MDD, 6 imacs  
G3, and 3 Mac-Mini intel, so if you have to compil, i can do it on  
both architecture G3/G4/Intel...
