Shaun McDonald brought up a comment that I made a long time ago
about the meeting time. I know that the meeting starts very late
in the E.U. and even later for Pavel and the Czech/Slovakian team.
I also think that Friday evenings could be better spent with
family. I cannot join the chat, although I would like to, as I am
at work and cannot use IRC or even the web to join in these
conversations. I do think that we might be better moving the
meetings to the weekend. Why? Because we all love to talk and we
could meet then and have higher participation from those who can
and are willing to join in the conversation.
Problems that exist today:
1. EU members have to join the chat at about 22:00 CET (that is 10
p.m.) Meetings can and do last hours. Thus meetings can end after
Midnight CET (like today's)
2. US members are spread over a four hour timeframe. Meetings
start at 6 p.m. EDT (which is 2 p.m. PST/PNT). Thus Mike S. would
have to make himself available at 5 p.m. CDT (Central Daylight
time), which may or may not be possible.
3. Japanese members. like Maho-san, have to get up very early (I
think the meetings start at 6 a.m. JST on Saturday morning).
My idea is that we have had very little participation from the
folks in Japan (excepting Maho-san) and that it might be better to
move the meeting time to a more reasonable time on Saturday/
Sunday. I think that 14:00 p.m. CET would work best for all of
us. This would make the time 21:00 JST, and 8:00 a.m EST, 4 a.m.
PST/PNT (I could force myself to get up that early, and I do have
to start riding my bicycle earlier due to the summer heat here.)
As I said this is a PROPOSAL and not written in 'stone', and is
open for comment.
