It's great to see that you have an interest in the OpenOffice.org Mac
Porting Project.
We are currently not yet ready for testing the alpha Aqua version of
OpenOffice.org. We are still at the point of Implementing, which you
are more than welcome to come and join us with.
As you have a very slow machine, I would not recommend building
OpenOffice.org on your machine on a regular basis. It will take over
a day, maybe even 2 days to complete the compile.
We hope to have the alpha version available in May 2007. Please take
a look at our updated timeline.

You may be interested in some of our Google Summer of Code projects.

We don't use iChat, since it is aimed at one to one, or small group
communication. Instead we use IRC, which allows large group
participation. Colloquy is one such client. We use the IRC server
irc.freenode.net and the channel #ooo_macport. You are more than
welcome to join us.
