I have started a WIKI page to document what we do at:

I will file an issue and attach a patch that adds the flags as
described there, but first I want to do a full build with these flags.
I would suggest that if there are no build issues that we consider
these changes for aquavcl02, certainly we must decide for aqauvcl03.
