Subject: [OOoCon] Proposals for topical items

There are four prime slots reserved at OOoConf for 'topical' items -
hot-off-the press developer news, deployments news, controversies,
etc.
People with proposals can submit them using the on-line form
http://marketing.openoffice.org/ooocon2007/speakers.html
I'd like to propose we ask for these to be submitted by the end of
August (that's before midnight UTC on August 31st :-) We could then
do a
brief voting process with the Conference Jury using some simplified
voting method :-) so that the presenters would have a week or two's
notice.
Clearly, I do not want to influence what people might want to propose.
However, I would be surprised if we did not have:
* a proposal for a demonstration of the new features in newly-released
2.3
* a proposal for a demonstration of the very latest version of the MAC
port
There has also been an interesting discussion on the developers' blog
triggered by Kay about OOo futures - maybe we could have a proposal
from
5-6 people to have five minutes (maximum two slides) each to
present "My
Vision of OOo".
