Thank you Mike and Shaun, I picked Linkinus as an IRC client from
Macupdates.  It seems to work pretty well but I'll try Colloquy too.
I wish I were truly conversant in something other than English but I'm not.
 I'll stick with English for now I guess.  Once I retire (coming up, I
hope!) maybe I'll apply myself to learning some other languages.  I'm
partial to Danish as my wife has relatives there and we really, really
enjoyed our trip to Copenhagen and Kalundborg a couple of years ago.
