FYI, there is an effort in progress, about implement OpenGL transitions
in Impress in the Aqua version. The cws is ogltrans4mac, and we'll
probably do commit everything soon ( build completed with the current
patches)
To I'll try to document everything (like code changes asap) on the wiki:

Currently, the transitions can be tested, but some important issues have
to be solved, and any help for the implementation is welcome.
IMPORTANT: we need volunteers to (I hope this will not slow down the
work in progress) write a spec document
Last, I'd like to thank Stephan Schaefer for the code he provided
(making the NSOpenGLView to work) and I invite any volunteer to join us
for the code.
