REAL SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES REALBASIC FOR WINDOWS, CREATES BOTH MACINTOSH AND
WINDOWS APPLICATIONS

REALbasic, long recognized as the premier cross-platform development
environment on the Macintosh, will make a huge leap forward with REALbasic
5 by allowing users on both Macintosh and Windows to create applications
for either platform.

October 1, 2002. Austin, TX - REAL Software announced today that the next
version of REALbasic will support both Macintosh and Windows as development
platforms. REALbasic for Macintosh users have been able to create
applications for both Macintosh and Windows since 1999. This new version
will allow Windows users to do the same thing. This will make it easier for
Macintosh developers to create Windows applications and Windows developers
to create Macintosh applications.

"Our customers have been asking us to provide a Windows version of
REALbasic for years," said Geoff Perlman, President and CEO of REAL
Software. "We're excited that creating Macintosh software will be just as
for easy for Windows users as it is for Macintosh users today."

"We started as a Windows-only software company. Now REALbasic makes it easy
for us to develop for both Mac and Windows", said Eddie Zaremba, President
and CEO of Trizen Systems. "REALbasic is the only Macintosh programming
environment that works like the tools we are accustomed to on Windows. We
couldn't support the Mac if it weren't for REALbasic."

The next major release of REALbasic is currently in public testing and is
available to any registered user of REALbasic 4.5. REALbasic 5 for
Macintosh and Windows will ship in Q1 2003. It will include many new
features including a long list of Mac OS X Version 10.2 Jaguar-only
features.
