REDSTONE SOFTWARE UNVEILS NEWEST VERSION OF EGGPLANT SOFTWARE AT APPLE EXPO
2003
PARIS, France -- September 19, 2003 -- Redstone Software, Inc., the leader
in easy-to-use, cross-platform test automation tools, today released
Eggplant 1.4 for Mac OS X. The new version includes tools for enhanced
software, hardware and systems testing.
Eggplant 1.4 includes the ability to send email, post data to a URL and
initiate phone calls using iVeena, a secure voice email delivery and
response system that works with any phone, providing increased user
connectivity during the testing process. The new version also includes
tools for obtaining enhanced results and statistics, such as the ability to
customize results from script control, making it easier to obtain complete
and accurate testing data. Additional new features include:
- faster and smoother display of the remote screen;
- improved image matching, including the ability to change an image's
searching tolerance and the ability to change image attributes on the fly
as they are used in a script;
- new text matching algorithm that deals with anti-aliased fonts; and
- a beta release of software capabilities for recording QuickTime movies,
either under script control or in live mode.
Eggplant is the first of a new generation of system automation products
capable of automating tasks on any computer system. The interactive
scripting development capability allows even an unsophisticated user to
automatically test the end user experience, much as a manual tester would.
Eggplant's capabilities are also powerful enough to support the most
complex environments and experienced users.
"Market response to Eggplant has been very positive since its initial
release, and we're pleased with the progress we've been able to make with
each subsequent release," said John McIntosh, president of Redstone
Software. "The new features in this version are what our customers asked
for and will help make the testing process easier to customize and
evaluate."
