I'll add the "Generic" in the next release. Subtype "0" (the default if you don't specify anything) will map to that.
Somebody submitted a patch (search this mailing list if you're interested) to add support for dynamic specification/management of subtypes, but I haven't had time to look at the patch in detail or think about incorporating it in the official release.
