Defocusing from the _components_ that you have removed and/or installed,
I'll make the following suggestion.
1. launch Terminal
2. quit from all other applications
3. at the command line, run the following command
sudo update_prebinding -force -root /
4. whilst that command runs, be very patient
5. whilst waiting for the command to complete, do absolutely *nothing*
-- it's *essential* to not touch your Mac until after the run is
complete
6. any errors presented during the run are typically negligible, but
if you like you can take a note of them after the event.
Please let us know whether this resolves your problem with .dmg files.
