For what it's worth, your gcc command is fine, as it works for me with almost exactly the same setup (though MacBook non-Pro).
I do, however, get strange messages about missing aliases when I try, in Finder, to open directories which have previously been mount points for helloworldfs. (I also tested this with sshfs-static but it does not seem to suffer the same problem.) This happens even if I delete those directories and re-create them.
