Regardless of whether this is an appropriate list or not, if you don't
say anything about the "problems", how can you be helped?

mtpfs depends on a bunch of libraries that aren't there by default on
Mac OS X. Some of these libraries in turn depend on other things that
aren't there on Mac OS X. If you try compiling it, you will, of
course, keep running into missing dependencies. Is that what we're
talking about here? If so, there's no two ways around it--you have to
get all the critical dependencies working first. Fink or MacPorts
might make things easier.
