Hi,

Apologies if this has been addressed or is obvious. I've been using
MacFuse with EncFS for offsite backup and have encountered the problem
with TextEdit (which also appears in TeXShop) that I have to "save as"
and overwrite because save doesn't work (it is actually more
insidious than this because sometime TeXShop doesn't complain but
simply does not save).
The problem is the one discussed here, I believe:
http://groups.google.com/group/macfuse-devel/browse_thread/thread/44f5acbbd68d0c3f?hl=en#

I upgraded to MacFuse 1.7.1 and the problem persists. FYI, I have
also upgraded to Leopard 10.5.4. The original install of MacFuse was
via DarwinPorts. However, they hadn't updated their package list to
include 1.7.1 so I installed it directly from the MacFuse site .dmg
file. sshfs reports the active kernel extension as 1.7.1 so the
upgrade seems to have taken. However, I'm not sure if there are
components that encfs is linking to from 1.5. Or perhaps it needs to
be rebuilt? Regardless, the save problem persists.

In addition, I now have a problem launching .pdf files on the encfs
filesystem using preview (either by double clicking in finder or by
opening the file in preview directly). It doesn't complain but just
does nothing. Acrobat reader works fine. Unfortunately I lack the
HFS+ expertise to provide any more detailed information but I hope
this is useful.

Cheers,
Ken Halpern
