How about looking at the CHANGELOG? Quoting from it:

"Feature: Backward compatibility (both binary and source levels)
despite new callbacks; existing file system binaries linked against
older MacFUSE versions should continue to work; file systems can
choose to opt out of all the aforementioned new callbacks."

sshfs, the *dmg download*, is deprecated because there are no
resources to support it in addition to MacFUSE.
