Well, see, this panic isn't a mandatory panic. Like I said, I expect certain valid combinations of flags in the open() call chain. If I detect that I've been passed an unknown flag combination (in this case, 0), I can either ignore it, or I can panic on purpose so that we know somebody (either the caller, or MacFUSE) is doing something wrong.
It might be apparently vmware triggered, but it seems unlikely that it's their problem. It's either an Apple bug or a MacFUSE bug.
