I am rather interested in using MacFUSE. But I found that I very much
miss the "Mac" in MacFUSE.

While the preference pane is definitely a good start, it still lacks
in usability. It doesn't unleash the full potential of MacFUSE and
supported file systems to the average Mac user.

So would developers please consider enhancing the MacFUSE package to
make it a true swiss army knife that catches most of what MacFUSE can
do. Kinda like Perian for QuickTime.

Specifically I would expect that
- various file systems are shipped right with the installer and all
installed in one package
(sshFS, ftpFS, procFS, ntfs, zfs, accessibilityFS, grabFS,
spotlightFS, youtubeFS, loopbackFS ... the whole enchillada)
- these file systems are deactivated by default
- they can be activated with just one click (similar to the "Sharing"
pref pane by Apple)
- the pref pane requests basic info from users on an as-needed basis
  e. g. for ssh: server, login, password, mount point, volume name
- it allows users to decide whether to mount automatically on startup,
automatically reconnects when going online again
- it warns users of possible security issues: e. g. "connection not
encrypted"
- it warns users of possible mistakes: e. g. "mount point not empty"

Here's the catch. I am not a developer myself. So I cannot contribute
with any code. )c:
But ... I could help with testing, with translation (German), with the
design of the UI.

Thanks for everybody's part so far. I hope that MacFUSE will soon
become as invaluable to the average Mac user as Perian is for
QuickTime.
