I found the above post very helpful, installing and using sshfs via the terminal with a keyboard short cut is a snap.
I did find that sshfs was complaining about not finding sshnodelay.so and disabling an internal work-around so I located a copy of sshnodelay.so within some other app bundles on my machine and copied it to /usr/local/bin.
