http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/wiki/OPTIONS says Beginning with version 1.0.0, MacFUSE always performs synchronous (foreground) mounting, so there's no race between the mounting process finishing and the Finder discovering a MacFUSE volume.
This isn't what happens with 2.0.3 on my 10.5.7 system.
