Just discovered that using latest MacFuse and Mac OS X 10.5.7, results in SMB connectivity via the Finder being disable. Took a good bit of testing, but once I removed MacFuse, I was able to restore connecting via SMB: in the Finder.
Not sure if this is a known bug or not, but I'm posting this because I consider it very serious.
