There are currently two "unofficial" MacFUSE builds available which offer full 
64 bit support under Snow Leopard and can be considered pretty much stable (not 
like the build that appeared 2009 at http://caurea.org).

I encourage you to try the first one as it implements a superior locking 
mechanism. The source code of both releases is available too.
