Hi Robert,

your are running a 64 bit kernel. The latest official MacFUSE releases (2.0.3,2 
/ 2.1.5 Beta) do not support 64 bit kernels. Try the following unofficial build

http://www.tuxera.com/mac/macfuse-core-10.5-2.1.9.dmg

This will most likely fix your problem.
