You might be having a problem if its running the 64-bit kernel.

Do this:

uname -a

if it ends 'RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64' you're running the 64-bit version and you 
need an unofficial MacFUSE build which supports 64-bit.

if it ends 'RELEASE_i386' or similar (cant remember exact string) then its 
something else.
