Hi Ben,
You need Xcode 3.2.x to build it as Xcode 4 dropped support for PowerPC
and 10.4.
You can find instructions on how to install Xcode 3.2.6 on Lion on my blog:

I tried to build from the source:
cd MacFUSE-Tuxera-2.2/core
./macfuse_buildtool.sh -t smalldist
It failed with these messages

requirement is 3.1.1)

This is on Lion with Xcode 4.1 installed.
Any suggestion? Thanks!

Like in the original MacFUSE releases, 10.4 versions have an even last
component in the version number and 10.5+ versions have an odd last
component. So 2.2.0 = 10.4 version, 2.2.1 = 10.5/6/7 version.
One could call it version 2.2.0|1 as well, but I'd prefer to just refer
to it as 2.2.

(Interestingly after the install of the above the MacFUSE control
panel now shows "Installed Version: 2.2.1")
Thanks for the time and effort Mr. Larsson!

Hi,
Now that Lion is out, I felt it was time to wrap up the old 2.1.9
release, which has proved to be rather dependable, with a more 'stable'
version number and installer infrastructure that supports Mac OS X Lion.
This is probably the last unofficial MacFUSE-derived binary release from
myself/Tuxera... in the future OSXFUSE / FUSE4X will take over.
So here's what may very well be the last release to have the name
MacFUSE in it (although not 'officially' of
course):http://www.tuxera.com/mac/macfuse/MacFUSE-Tuxera-2.2.dmg
System requirements: Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 or 10.7, PowerPC or
Intel, 32-bit or 64-bit. This one should support it all, with nobody
left behind.
