if its not a boot drive i would format it exfat .. macfuse should have no effect on your portable drive .. it kinda sounds like you drive is failing ... cause osx should have been able to read it at least... i would back it up... or try spinrite 6 from grc.com if it is failing u can check in bios of your windows machine to see if it finds the disk...
