Don't tell anyone I told you this, but the News.com urls can be
shortened by removing the article title.  So the url you gave could be
shortened to this:

http://news.com.com/2100-7343_3-5253808.html

Our Apache proxy actually doesn't care about anything in the url except
the filename at the end, with all the numbers.  You could put junk in
the url and it would still work:

http://news.com.com/I+love+Monty+Python/2100-7343_3-5253808.html

The only reason we've started inserting the article titles into our urls
is that it helps raise the Google PageRank for News.com articles, which
in turn helps drive a bit more traffic from Google users.
