For my beige G3 desktop, running 9.2.2 and 10.2.2, I really like the Canon S110 (Digital Elph). It comes with Canon's ImageBrowser for OS9 and OSX which is far better than iPhoto for navigating, viewing and printing. Canon also makes cameras that are not so small, or are cheaper, or are more than 2 megapixels. With ImageBrowser you can have your photos anywhere, accessible from either OS9 or OSX, and rename and move them all you want. I have mine on a separate Photos partition, named and organized the way I want. Iphoto is only for OSX, and forces your photos into your personal user library and gives the photos odd filenames that you cannot change or else iPhoto will lose track of the photos.
