Cocktail will do the repair permissions as well as several other repairs. I keep several of these machines running 24/7/365 with little or no problems. My programmer was trying to make a correction to our database, he continued to have one freeze after another, finally he thought he would try the "repair permissions", and that completely corrected the problem.
