I've done it and recovered info from a dead drive like that before. Just
remember to put the drive in a sealed ziplock bag, and once you take it out
you need to hurry and get as much off as you can.

Don't tell her to do this unless you can get this confirmed but somewhere
maybe I heard putting the drive in a plastic bag and freezing it? I think
that was on TechTV, don't do it until someone else confirms it though.
